(It's probably too much truck for Indiana. Certainly WAY more truck than I need now.)
Value, booked by bank, January 2017: $7,000.00
[and this is "better than book" — it's still the original paint, no rust anywhere! never in a collision, etc.]

This is a one-of-a-kind truck:
This truck was designed for a specific task by the State of Washington DNR (Department of Natural Resources - state parks etc.).
There is no other truck like this in the world, to the best of my knowledge or to the knowledge of the manufacturer.
This truck was engineered to perform EXTREME hauling jobs under HEAVY loads - those jobs which could not be performed by heavy-duty trailers, due to tight cornering on the paths/trails and due to insufficient turn-around radius at the tops of the 'roads.'
After it was "retired" by the Wahington DNR, this truck was used for commercial and agricultural uses:
1. hauling 7 tons of recycled metal over a mountain to the recycling plant,
2. hauling top soil + gravel + sand,
3. hauling up to 10 round bales per trip- in the bed!
4. hauling 24-foot trunks of timber from remote sites to the lumber mills - on the rack!
   ... etc.
How, why, by whom and when this truck was made ...
Why was it made?
It was custom-engineered to design specifications as defined by the Washington DNR to meet
7 ton payload - On The Rack!
How much did it cost?
Put out to bid: Winning bid was $30,650.00
[note: that's more than twice as much as any stock 1-ton flatbed truck in made in America in 1989.]
Who made this truck?
Job bid won & custom-manufactured by: Knapheide® of Portland, Oregon (Truckstell™).
Manufacturer of the truck rack only: The Rack Company, Portland, Oregon.
When was this truck made?
Date of Manufacture: August, 1989.
Date of manufacture of the component Chevrolet R3500 truck off the line in Detroit: June 1989 (cabin + engine/transmission drive train + chassis - no bed).
Truck details ...
Mileage:
190,000 [that's less than 6,800 miles / year.]
[note: this truck was only used when it was needed by the DNR — to haul corrugated steel culverts up the sides of mountains where there were no roads, and to haul 24' Redwood and Douglas Fir trunks back down the mountain.]
Very Non-standard features:
1. Hyrdo-Boost Brakes: the Power Steering Pump supplements the Brake Master Cylinder (under heavy loads downhill or emergency stops).
2. Payload: 14,000 LBS (7 tons) either in the bed or on the rack.
Comes with:
1. Inverter: 12 volt to 120 volt; Output: 2,000 Watts peak, 1,000 Watts continuous.
2. Rack: 14,000 LBS Payload (7 tons).
3. Hoist: up to 1,2000 LBS.
4. Pair of low-mileage Studded Snow tires: When you put these on the inside of dualies, with snow chains on the outside this truck drives like a Military Half-track vehicle in the snow AND in the ice.
5. Floor Jack: 2.5 tons
6. FUEL tanks: two fuel-tank/fuel-pump combos, 16 GAL / tank.
... etc.
New or rebuilt:
1. Rebuilt 350 TBI engine: Less than 45,000 miles.
2. Refurbished T 400 transmission: with new flex plate, rebuilt anti-stall torque converter, U-joints (2017).
3. Top-engine job: I rebuilt the heads + new distributor/ignition system: less than 7,000 miles (2016).
4. Heater: New heater core + blower motor + control switch (2016).
5. Tires: 4 New LT 235/85 R-16 E-rated all-terrain tires on front and outside of rear dualies (2016).
 6. Power steering pump: Heavy Duty with new V-Belt and High-Pressure line to the Master Cylinder (This truck has the Hyrdo-Boost Braking System).
   ... etc.
New within last 3 years:
1. front wheel hubs,
2. lower control arm,
3. ball joints,
4. 105 AMP Alternator
... etc.
Additional parts included:
1. New Water Pump - still in the box (installed pum hasn't been changed in at least 10 years, but still working).
